The Eclectic Hedgewitch
Welcome to Enevow Holyer, which is cornish for ‘follower of the soul.’ This site was set up by cornish hedgewitch, professional tarotista and my good friend and mentor, Jasmine Cox.
We are now under new ownership, and, with Jasmine’s blessing, will be re-branding as ‘The Eclectic Hedgewitch.’ – a dedicated site for those who choose to follow the eclectic path, including Jasmine’s Hedgewitch Grimoire.
Define Eclectic Witch
It is quite a tricky term to define, particularly as the concept of eclectic witchcraft means different things to different people. Basically, an eclectic witch is a person of either gender, who weaves together different elements of the craft which resonate with them, to create their own path. They can be pagan, wiccan, catholic, christian, atheist, secular and any shade of anything in between.
What Does An Eclectic Witch Do?
The eclectic witch could use elements of hedgewitchery, such as the ‘green’ side, choose not to ‘ride the hedge’ and feel most comfortable practicing in their ‘kitchen’, thus leaving them caught between 3 ‘labels’. They may incorporate ceremonial magick into their practice and follow the rootwork tradition of Hoodoo or choose to work with sigils and other forms of chaos magick.
The eclectic witch may like to cast circles and work with the elements as part of their practice. Perhaps they keep an altar and use particular tools that are sacred to them. They might incorporate candles and oils into their workings, or prefer to hide all evidence of their activity by casting spells silently in their heads, unbeknown to anyone else around them.
I could rattle on, but hopefully my point has been made. An eclectic witch is anything and everything he or she chooses to be. Perhaps we should all take a moment to thank our chosen deity (if we work with one) for the 21st century where this kind of practice is acceptable… 😉
Please do stay for a while and have a look around. We are in the process of changing hands, and I’m aiming to make the site a friendly, relaxed and interactive resource for beginners, established practitioners and anyone interested in the craft.
