Red, The Colour of Passion…
This is a very simple love spell, based around time honoured traditional ways, to attract and secure your heart’s desire.
Advice For The Simple Love Spell
This should be cast on the first day of the new moon/waxing crescent. If you don’t habitually follow the phases of the moon, there just happens to be a handy lunar calendar right here in the sidebar.
While the moon is dark, you will need to cut a red heart from a brand new piece of card or crepe paper. I do not recommend using tissue paper as this is flimsy and ultimately flammable.
Alternatively, you could use a fallen petal from a wild red rose if it is sufficiently ‘hearty’ enough. That is definitely the most romantic way to go. You are going to use this heart on the first day of the new moon, called the ‘waxing crescent’.
Simple Love Spell Incantation.
“As this red heart glows in the warmth of candlelight
I draw you, my lover, towards my heart this night.”

For This Simple Love Spell You Will Need:
Your prepared heart symbol
A fresh piece of white paper
A red pen
A large red candle, marked in
A brand new envelope
Annointing Oil Of Your Choice (Romance Oil would be perfect)
Herbs, Spices and Roots suitable for Love Spells (optional)
Simple Love Spell Ritual.
Cleanse the candle with salt and water before you start.
Use the pen and paper to write the incantation above. State your intention.
Bathe/shower, and change into your nightwear.
Annoint the candle with the oil of your choice, careful to rub from the top downwards, as you are drawing something into your life. From the bottom upwards is used to remove unwanted things, and would be counter-productive in this instance.
If you wish, once you have annointed the candle, you could roll it in or sprinkle it with herbs. Check out my Master List Of Magickal Correspondences for ideas on what to use for a love spell.
When you are ready to begin, light the candle and read the spell aloud. Hold the heart in the glow of the candlelight, but not close enough to scorch it. Repeat the spell whilst gazing into the flame and watching the heart as it bathes in the golden light.
When you feel you have poured enough of your passion and energy into the spell, place the heart in the envelope.
If you wish, you could add sugar to sweeten the spell, or a pinch of the relevant herbs. The more you personalise this spell to you, the stronger it will be.
Fold the envelope into a small parcel, and seal it shut with wax from the candle.
Jasmine’s version of this spell says to hide the envelope somewhere it will not be disturbed for one full lunar cycle. However, if it were me working it, I would consider leaving the parcel in the light of the waxing moon. As the energy builds towards the full moon, so too would the spell.
Burn the candle for an hour each night of the waxing crescent and waxing gibbous, with the parcel nearby. Focus on what you have asked for, and see it happening.
On the night of the full moon, allow the candle to burn down completely, and thoroughly seal the parcel with its wax. Bury it in a pot with a new plant/seeds, or outside.
Tend to the plant/seedlings/wherever you have planted your request, and as they flourish and grow, you should be welcoming what you have asked for into your life.
The success of this spell lies within the intention which is poured into it. It’s all about narrowing down exactly what it is that you want. Once you have established what that is, you need to project that desire into the heart during the spell.
