Grow and Forage For Your Own Medicines and Spell Components In Nature’s Own Pharmacy.
Understanding and operating in tune with nature’s own pharmacy is a vital part of hedgewitchery. Once you start researching your needs and the herbal options available to you, you’ll find most ingredients are easily found. Many are conveniently ready to go in capsules, ointments, infusions and tinctures from your local health food shop, with dried herbs and the more obscure items readily available online.
But for the more adventurous out there, you will be amazed how many common ingredients are actually available from nature’s own pharmacy, aka the hedgerow.
Before searching for any herbs growing in the wild, please read my tips and advice for foragers HERE, as many plants are protected species which should not be picked.
It goes without saying (but I’m going to anyway!!) You should ALWAYS do thorough research before picking ANYTHING out of the hedgerow and ESPECIALLY before ingesting or applying ANY plants, herbs or spices for medicinal use.
If you are already taking medication, please make sure you check with your doctor and/or trained herbalist BEFORE introducing any natural remedies. Some herbs and medicines can interact unfavourably.
Here is a list of herbs and plants that can be used medicinally. I’ve provided links to further information, to get you started.
I’ll be adding to this over the next few weeks, and building a database of remedies & spells for further reference. I am also working on a series of pages you will be able to download for your own grimoire (at minimal cost). These will be in my shop soon.
Please follow Enevow Holyer to be the first to know when updates appear.
